GCSound was established in May, 2000 by Russ Groover and Pete Cowett. The idea of the company is to help individuals, businesses, churches, convention centers, and anybody else who simply needs to be heard without understanding the complexities of audio.
Russ Groover graduated from Virginia Tech in 1988 with a BA in Theatre Arts. While he was there, he put his technical training to work by running house sound for a few of the main stage performances. He was also quite active in the local Blacksburg/Radford music scene. In 1986, he purchased his first full PA system with a couple of friends. Using the popular method of “trial by fire”, he learned the “what to do”s and “what not to do”s of live band audio. By 1990, Russ was managing the Pro Audio department of a larger music store in the Washington DC area and remained there for 10 years. During that time, he became acquainted with “fixed sound” installation as well as more complex live sound. Russ has advised countless people on their audio needs and has networked with many people in the industry. Russ Groover, along with Pete Cowett, brings all his experience and connections to form one company in order to help you.
